Growing regions

Hops are nowadays grown in only a few regions around the globe. The largest of these regions is in the Hallertau, located north of Munich/Germany. About one-third of total world hop production comes from the Hallertau, 70% of production is exported. Other German hop growing regions are located in Franconia, in the vicinity of the cities of Spalt and Hersbruck, at Lake Constance around the small town of Tettnang, as well as in the Eastern part of Germany near the Elbe and Saale rivers.

Hops are grown in some other countries around the world. Major growing regions are also in the United States and in China.
